Fintech Analytics Platform

For the past two years, I have led a team of developers in building a platform for a financial company. This platform includes dedicated panels and tools for each department, empowering them to optimize their time and workflow.

The primary objective of this project was to address a critical issue: the core server was collapsing due to excessive queries, causing widespread problems within the company. Beyond resolving this issue, we aimed to add value by digitizing and streamlining tasks across all departments.

The solution involved creating an application that connects to the core server to retrieve updated information and upload it to a database. This database then became the central hub for queries. Additionally, a Progressive Web Application (PWA) was developed as a user-friendly platform. This PWA provides employees and clients with access to all necessary information for their tasks, along with customized tools designed to simplify their work.

The developed tools include:

• Calculated Portfolio for each manager and client
• Calculated Commissions for each manager
• News publishing panel for the marketing department
• Digitized forms for entering new clients and saving personal data
• Automated bank reconciliation tools for back office
• Ticketing system to track the approval of fee modification
• Ticketing system to track the approval of new user documentation by middle office
• And many more...

My job included the following activities:

Definition and supervision of the technical architecture of the project, making key decisions regarding the technologies and tools to be used, code review and ensuring best practices are followed, mentoring and continuous training of the development team, resolving complex technical problems and engineering challenges, close collaboration with other leaders to align technical and business objectives, planning and estimating sprints and releases, identifying and mitigating technical risks, active development, whether in backend or frontend tasks as per the team's needs, implementation of design patterns and agile development practices, managing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), communication with other departments such as design, product, and support to ensure smooth delivery, monitoring and ensuring software quality, including testing and deployments, maintenance and updating of technical documentation, researching and adopting new technologies or practices that can benefit the project, and finally, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment, ensuring the team is motivated and committed to technical excellence.

Configuration and maintenance of EC2 servers on AWS, development of RESTful APIs with Node.js and Express, design and management of databases with MySQL, implementation of stored procedures and SQL query optimization, management of database connections and connection pools, implementation of authentication and authorization using JWT, development of business logic related to financial transactions, integration with other financial and banking platforms, configuration and use of PM2 for process management and application monitoring, implementation of encryption and security measures to protect sensitive data, configuration and maintenance of backup and recovery systems, development of unit and integration tests with tools like Jest, implementation of logging and monitoring with tools like Winston, management of additional AWS services such as S3, RDS, Lambda, among others, optimization of API performance and latency, research and adoption of best practices in security and financial regulations, collaboration with frontend and design teams, and finally, development of technical and API documentation for other developers.

In this position, I successfully integrated my acquired skills, leveraging my expertise in development while providing valuable assistance to both the systems and design teams. I actively contributed to build the intranet, playing a key role in helping different areas of the company. My ability to lead, build and design proved instrumental in this proyect. This experience not only solidified my technical capabilities but also enhanced my collaborative and problem-solving skills in a dynamic work environment.
