NUMEN

An exhibition to move through, not a grid to scroll.

A free visit through “Presencia de Ayeres”: the room, a diptych, a mural and a sculpture.

Make room for the work.

NUMEN starts from the feeling of entering an exhibition. The visitor moves through a room, approaches a work and opens its dossier without losing the sense of place. I designed the interaction and built the engine; the artworks belong to Andrés Bestard Maggio.

“Rupestre”, a painting by Andrés Bestard Maggio.
“Rupestre”, by Andrés Bestard Maggio. The gallery must allow close looking without reducing the work to a thumbnail.

A camera that follows intent.

Movement, zoom and touch gestures had to feel like a continuous visit. The camera and input systems coordinate free exploration with focused views of individual works; the dossier keeps context available without becoming the exhibition itself.

A custom engine with standard browser tools.

Canvas draws the spatial scene while DOM layers keep enlarged artworks and editorial text crisp. Background workers assemble image tiles and an on-demand render loop avoids redrawing an idle room. The architecture keeps the experience responsive without a framework or WebGL.

The technology should disappear into the visit.

NUMEN is an ongoing exploration of what a web exhibition can feel like when navigation, artwork and information are designed together.
